The Bristol Cable

We’re looking for someone with a knack for reporting and promoting stories to join the Cable team as a reporter and social media coordinator.

Title: Reporter and social media coordinator

Salary: £7.50 per hour with the possibility of raising to the living wage. (Please note: all Cable coordinators are paid on a flat rate.)

Contract Type: Freelance (provisionally)

Hours: 37.5 hrs per week (flexible)

Location: Central Bristol

Role Overview:

The Bristol Cable is a media cooperative producing high quality journalism, community education and pioneering a new model of media ownership.

The Cable is in its fourth year of existence. From a volunteer-led start up, the Cable has become a thriving media organisation. You will be part of a team that is spearheading new ways of engaging with communities on and off line, and developing projects to achieve our ambitions.

Through our work we have developed recognition and partnerships locally, nationally and internationally with leading organisations and individuals such as the Centre for Investigative Journalism and the Global Investigative Journalism Network.

The Cable is now at an exciting juncture where we are expanding our media team. We’re looking for a highly motivated person with journalistic flair to join the team as a reporter and social media coordinator. You will be immersed in a dedicated and supportive team.

Responsibilities will include:

  • finding, pitching and producing engaging stories
  • publicising our content, events and membership engagement through social media.

Interviews: Monday 18th December between 4-7pm in Bristol for 45mins. Shortlisted applicants will be notified of the exact time.

Start date: Mid-January (negotiable)
