Celebrate and discover LGBTQ+ lives across the centuries

To celebrate LGBTQ+ History Month, OutStories Bristol in conjunction with M Shed museum are presenting a day of fascinating talks.  Topics include:

  • a leading 19th-century Bristol solicitor who vanished, possibly because he was gay;
  • Mary Renault’s gay love story The Charioteer set in a fictionalised WW2 Bristol;
  • the search for ancient trans Celts;
  • two Bristol men convicted of sodomy in 1842 and transported to Tasmania;
  • and a cheeky look at butts in art!

Entrance is free and booking is not required – just come and go as you wish.

OutStories Bristol is a volunteer community group that collects and preserves the social history and recollections of LGBTQ+ people living in or associated with the Bristol area.
