February is LGBTQ+ History Month when throughout the UK we celebrate the lives and heritage of LGBTQ+ people across the centuries.
This year Bristol’s M Shed museum in conjunction with OutStories Bristol are presenting a day of fascinating talks. Topics include:
- a leading 19th-century Bristol solicitor who vanished, possibly because he was gay;
- Mary Renault’s gay love story The Charioteer set in a fictionalised WW2 Bristol;
- the search for ancient trans Celts;
- two Bristol men convicted of sodomy in 1842 and transported to Tasmania;
- and a cheeky look at butts in art!
The event is at M Shed on Saturday 24th February, 11am to 5pm. Entrance is free and booking is not required – just come and go as you wish.
