‘Why we need democratic media’ with Dan Hind
In a special event for the Bristol Cable, Dan Hind will be in Bristol to discuss the power of media and its functions in contemporary Britain – or how a tiny handful of people decide what everyone else reads and watches.
After a decade-long in publishing his critical eye applies to the world of information sharing, the impact of digital technology, and the role that independent outlets like the Cable can play in creating a new culture of democratic power and responsibility.
Dan Hind left corporate publishing to write about the issue and solutions. Two books followed: The Return of the Public: Democracy, Power, and the Case for Media Reform (Verso books, 2012) & The Public & the Mass (out shortly!).
Come hear from Dan Hind and discuss the issue with others!
Free for Cable Members/£2 suggested donation for the public on the door, confirm your attendance on Eventbrite http://bit.ly/1UlXIsh.
