Arnolfini presents Como la Cigarra, a vibrant, community-led exhibition co-created with Latinas in Bristol. Celebrating Latin American identity, resilience and creativity, the show features richly textured, collaborative textile works inspired by stories of migration, home and womanhood.
The exhibition takes its title from Como la Cigarra (Like the Cicada), a song by Argentine writer María Elena Walsh — an anthem of survival and rebirth deeply rooted in Latin American cultural memory.
Founded in 2023, Latinas in Bristol is a grassroots organisation supporting Latin American women through creativity, culture and community action. This exhibition marks their first at Arnolfini and reflects a long-term partnership focused on centring community voices in the gallery.
