North Bristol NHS Trust welcome staff, patients, visitors and the community to the annual Southmead Hospital Allotment Gala! Join us for a day to celebrate all things gardening, nature and wellbeing.
What to expect:
- Gardening activities run by NBT’s Greenspaces Coordinator. Take home some tasty harvest and have a go at social therapeutic horticulture.
- Art and health facilitator Charlotte Hawke will be running a drop in creative workshop where you can explore the wonders of printing using vegetables, leaves and flowers! You’ll get the opportunity to create some beautiful repeat pattern prints and to collaborative on an allotment artwork.
- Plant sale by Alive. Alive has been running social and therapeutic horticulture sessions in care homes and community gardens across Bristol for over a decade. They’ll be selling plants grown at their dementia-friendly allotment.
- Nature storytelling
- Stalls from the Sustainability, Staff experience, Library and Macmillian Wellbeing team
Access
You can access the allotment via a wheelchair friendly path from Monks Park Avenue or the stairs next to the Learning & Research Building.
Travel Information
We encourage attendees to travel to Southmead Hospital in the most sustainable way they can – reducing our carbon emissions and improving air quality help us contribute to a healthier population, reducing the burden on NHS services.
Parking onsite is very limited and priority is given to hospital patient visitors. Please do not plan to park on the hospital site.
Public Transport: The site is serviced by 15 different bus routes. You can plan your journey using the TravelWest journey planner. Cycling: – There are ample spaces for securing bikes at our Southmead Hospital site, we would suggest using the hoops outside of the main entrance to the Brunel Building. Tier: – There is Tier parking on site
