| Are you aged 18 to 26 and living with epilepsy? Or do you care for a young adult who is?A new social group is running near Bristol for young adults (18-26) with epilepsy and the people who support them.
The group meets twice monthly at the Long Ashton Community Centre (BS41 9DP) on a Sunday morning 11am- 1pm. The next 4 meet dates are:
Keep your eye on the Epilepsy Action website for more dates for Bristol and other groups: https://www.epilepsy.org.uk/support-groups Epilepsy affects 1 in 100 people in the UK and for many it can present significant challenges to living a normal life. Our group offers the opportunity for young adults with epilepsy and those that care for them to meet new people, share experiences, take part in the community centre activities (basketball, table tennis, pool etc), or just sit and chat over a hot drink and slice of cake! Above all, the group helps to build real and local connections and friendships with others who understand what living with epilepsy is like. The group has been set up by volunteers with help from Epilepsy Action’s Independent Group Network and is self-led, so the ideas of participants will shape how the group runs in future. We know it can be daunting to come along to a new group but there is no ‘start date’ as such and everyone is so friendly so just come along when you like. It’s a small group and we’d all love to see it grow – the more that come along the more supported we can all feel. Do as little or as much as you like. We like to think of it as your group, your way! There’s plenty of refreshments including tea, coffee, cake and toast! If you have any questions or concerns about joining the group you can contcat Corina using the email provided in the website link or feel free to just turn up on the day! It’s free! |
