The Thicket is a bold new four-part a cappella work by Bristol-based sound artist Yas Clarke — a rhythmic, melodic, and linguistic experiment exploring human identity, myth, and our place in nature. Written in arcane vernacular and performed with strict rhythmic structuring via in-ear click tracks, the piece moves from fragmented narrative to abstract vocal textures, invoking Chaucer, sci-fi, and minimalist composition. First performed to acclaim at Supernormal Festival, The Thicket offers a haunting meditation on language, consciousness, and climate in sound.
