Breaking: Developers appeal on controversial housing development

Developers will seek to go over the head of local council to push through development

Generator Group, the company behind the contested development of Greenbank Chocolate Factory have decided to take their case to the Planning Inspectorate following the council’s refusal to approve their application in November 2016. The council deferred the decision on the hotly contested application mainly due to its severe lack of “affordable housing” following revelations by the Cable and a concerted community campaign led by ACORN.

Now, the developer will seek approval from The Planning Inspectorate, an executive agency of the government. The Inspectorate is bound to abide by strict national planning laws that heavily favour developers. The council could also be required to pay all costs of the appeal.
